Clan: NR FAQ
    -What is Clan: No Remorse?

Clan: No Remorse is a new TFC clan. Make no mistake though, only the clan is new. We individually have been playing for a long time. Again, this is not a newbie clan, it’s a new clan with skilled, long-time players.

-What are some rules in C:NR?

Well, as we said, since this is a "new" endeavor, there are few rules. Things to note right now are:

  1. The clan isn't official yet. Unlike other new clans who go public first, then hire people desperately, C:NR is not going to be made public until we’ve recruited first. And not just anyone for the sake of getting a roster like newbie clans do. We are only looking for talented players, with a good attitude, and who love to play the game.
  2. Once we get a roster, the following rules will be placed:
  • One day a week practice time, roughly an hour. Day to be determined by means of majority vote. Of course, we need to find our own server first J
  • The practice will, if possible, be a scrimmage against another clan.
  • Wearing the clan’s tag once its official. (The tag design will be voted upon)
  • It important to have ICQ (www.icq.com) or some means of reaching you apart from Email. (ICQ is preferred, AOL Instant Messenger is alright if you can’t get ICQ). For clan match use, you are required to have Roger Wilco (www.rogerwilco.com) even if you have no microphone. Why do you need it without a mic? Simple, you still can receive voice messages, which will help you out anyhow.
  • We are a social group of game players. This means we talk, and try to maintain friendly relations. This isn’t a utopian society, I realize people always don’t see eye to eye. If this is the case, please settle your dispute in a wise fashion, and quickly. The clan can’t succeed if its members can’t be civil. If the dispute can’t be settled, the clan members not involved might have to settle it for you. This might not be a wise choice…
  • This is not a single leader clan. A council will make all crucial decisions. (i.e. recruiting, kicking, etc.) The council will be determined as the clan grows.
  • No one member is above another in this clan. Absolutely no ranks, and no sole authority. A council decides everything. Of course there are a few things that the appointed leaders (more on this below) can do:
  1. We recruit you for a specific class or classes, in clan matches, you are expected to play the role you were recruited for. That’s pretty obvious isn’t it?
  2. We can also request you to play certain roles, or switch roles during a match if things aren’t working out. For instance, if we need more D, and put you on that role even though you are an O type of guy, please just do it. This is a match of importance, we can fool around other times

I should elaborate on this appointed leader business. This arises in clan match situations where someone, ideally one who has been in the clan longest and has most experience, is chosen to command the group of players in that clan match only. He only has power in that match, not outside of it. When he is chosen, please listen to him, unless he’s not making any sense… then we’ll do something about that after the fact. Match leaders will be chosen prior to every match.

  3. Upon member approval, the clan might even participate in leagues. Notice I said upon member approval. Playing in leagues is a time demanding thing to do, so unless our members are willing to, we will not play leagues. (i.e. STA, IGL)
  4. The main rule is as follows: this is a serious clan, I want to make this last, unlike most new clans. The key to making something last is to enjoy doing it. This clan is serious, but also about having fun. If the clan can’t have fun, it can’t succeed. Please, only fun loving players should be in Clan:No Remorse. Have fun!  If we win a match, we had fun winning it, if we lose it, we have fun losing (heh, well at least pretend we did J ). The point is this, we take things in stride, not like children.
  5. -Wow! That’s a lot of rules isn’t it?

Not really, if you think about them, there are only two or three major rules. The rest are expected of all decent game playing human beings, clan or no clan J

-How do I get into this awesome clan (hehe, had to put that in) anyway?

Well, in new clans, people generally just let anyone in, to get a roster. This clan won’t work that way. Being as we have no server right now, our members play on random servers. This helps out in recruitment too. If we see a good player kicking ass, we’ll ask for his ICQ or email. Then we’ll invite him to try out. We’ll put him to a practice test (you won’t believe how many empty servers there are out there to use for this) and if he makes the cut, he’s listed as a recruit. After that, all he’s got to do is maintain his skill level and get to know us, for a minimum of one week. The clan’s council votes from that point. All decisions are final. Please note: I know I use the word "he" a lot, but female players are also welcome. They are subject to the same rules as the males. J

-Are you looking for lpb’s only?

Never! Fact is, I’m an hpb until college starts again J While being an lpb certainly helps, we know players who can school with the highest of pings. Skill matters more than ping. Also, if you’ve got a server, that will definitely help. J

-What if I do not want to join the clan, but want to contribute some other way?

Sure! We love meeting people, and the clan isn’t friendly to only our clan mates. Drop a line anytime. Oh, and if you want to contribute somehow without devoting time to a clan:

    • How about a dedicated server for us? We need one…
    • Or an IRC person for maintaining an IRC chartroom? (when we get public we’ll most likely be on IRC), WON chats SUCK and we will be having clan meetings periodically.
    • An HTML person? Although some of us in the clan can make a decent page, someone with talent is greatly welcome.

-How many members are you looking for?

To be honest, not too many. Large clans are difficult to maintain without problems arising. I think 16-20 at most for now. That number seems large in itself, but we need backup for clan matches. Ideally, finding 16-20 great players is probably impossible, since most older clans have sucked ‘em up already J

-Oh, some thing to note, don’t even bother considering us if:

You are a jerk. You cheat (this includes ANY non-Half Life included code; programmed bots, aiming bots, GL tricks to remove shadows, light up enemy players, etc.). If you’ve ever cheated, don’t bother. Or, if you just plain have no "civility" when playing. This means no annoying tactics done on purpose CONSISTENTLY for the simple fact of annoying us or the other team, among other things. If you still try to join, you can be sure we are gunna send you on your merry lameass way.

-Damn Pariah, you write a lot!

Heh, got to make things clear ya know?

-Ok, so run this by me again? What’s the main rule in C:NR?

To have fun! Amusement! Enjoyment! Jolly times! To be festive! To jest! To uh.. you get the point J

-Are you done Pariah? Or do you have any more run-on sentences and essay length responses for us?

Heh, yea I’m done. Sorry for such a long FAQ, sometimes these things are necessary. If you think this is bad, imagine us having to be asked these questions every day, day after day, repeating answer after answer. Clearly, this is the simplest way to do things J

    -Thank You
    -Pariah
